The formula for a winning essay is to express a few ideas, the top ones that student might have identified during his initial brainstorming session in a few interesting sentences. Also they should keep the essay structure simple. Since students only have a short amount of time to answer GMAT essay questions, and the graders have an even shorter amount of time to evaluate it so certainly students should not confuse the graders by using unduly complex structures or language. Exam Criteria
One of the key criteria examiners look for, is a student's ability to present ideas and arguments clearly and persuasively. Many writers grow vague when pressed for time. The GMAT essay questions are not designed to judge a student's vocabulary. Important is the grammar they use to express their ideas. If their essay is grammatically incorrect, it will harm their essay grade. Students should ensure that their sentences are short but complete; this will make their essay easier for the examiner to read. Analytical Writing Section
The GMAT includes 3 sections: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative, and Analytical Writing Assessment. The Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) is how business schools evaluate student writing skills. The GMAT essay questions tests student ability to think critically, and how well they can express their ideas. Additionally, their writing skills are also evaluated. The AWA includes two 30 minute sections (a total of 60 minutes for the writing section). They are only allowed 30 minutes for each section. Writing Skills
GMAT Essay section is how the business school evaluates student writing skills. In the exam there are different topics every time, but typically they are based on a general interest related to business or other subjects. GMAT Essay questions are chosen randomly by a computer, and are not provided until the day of the exam. Because students are being evaluated on their analytical writing skills, prior knowledge of a topic is not necessary. Students tend to under-prepare for the AWA section. This is ironic because it is the one GMAT section, where a small amount of preparation can make a huge difference on the test day. To beat the GMAT essay questions, students must learn how to answer in a highly disciplined and concise manner. It is important that students should clearly divide their essay into the introductory paragraph, two to three content paragraphs, and a conclusion. They should take out time before they start writing, to set up an organizational structure.
