This will require the candidate to demonstrate his best skills and perform the best in the exam in order to get admission in a respectable Law school.

LSAT exam is usually administered 4 times a year in different parts of the world. Generally, students take this test a good amount of time before applying to a university to ensure that they can take the exam again if they do not get the desired marks. In this regard, it is very important to score well in this test as the admission of students in Law schools would be subject to their performance in their test. However, before you register for the test and start to prepare for it, you need to be familiar with the latest test pattern. You should also be familiar with the type of questions which you will be facing in the exam so you can prepare for it accordingly. However, before we jump to the details regarding the type of questions, let us get an overview of the exam pattern.

What sections will be included in the LSAT test?

There are basically 5 sections which will be included in the LSAT test. One section will be based on a comprehension which the candidates will have to read and then answer questions related to it. This section will basically check if the candidate is able to analyze a piece of text critically and then answer the questions accordingly. The second section will be based on questions which will assess the analytical reasoning of the candidates. This is generally referred to as the analytical section. In addition to this, there will be two more sections which will cater to the logical reasoning of the candidate. These two sections are the most important and should be attempted in the best way.

However, there will also be a fifth section which will not be graded. This section is included to test new questions and the response of the candidates to these questions. This section could be from any of the three different types of sections mentioned above. The candidate will not know that which of the section the un-graded one is. You should also know that the time allocated to each section is 35 minutes.

A deep insight into the latest question pattern

As it has been mentioned above, there are going to be three different types of sections in the exam. Hence, each of these sections will have different types of questions. We will have a look at all 3 question types in detail which constitute the latest format of the questions in the LSAT test. Following are the three types of questions which you will be facing in the exam.

  1. Reading Comprehension Questions

These types of questions will assess the reasoning abilities of the candidates based on the piece of text they read in the exam. There are a number of lengthy passages which one will be required to read and understand once he is in law school. In order to understand these passages and apply reasoning on them, one should be fluent in these reading comprehension questions.

There will be around 3 to 4 comprehensions in one section. Each comprehension will be followed by 6 to 8 questions. The candidates should have the ability to read the comprehension and then answer the questions related to it. These questions will ask both direct and indirect facts from the comprehension. The difficulty and complexity of these passages will be quite high. The candidates will have to answer multiple-choice questions based on comprehension they read. It is important to deeply analyze each question and try to understand its meaning before answering it.

  2. Logical Reasoning Questions
  3. Most of the questions which you will be facing in the exam will be logical reasoning questions. These questions assess the ability of the candidate to logically evaluate the questions and critically analyze them as they occur in the exam. Each of the questions comes with a small passage which puts forward a particular scenario. The candidate needs to analyze that passage in detail and apply logical reasoning in order to answer it. The candidate needs to apply a number of skills in order to solve these types of questions. These skills include reasoning by analogy, reaching well-supported conclusions and applying rules, principles or arguments.

These types of questions are mainly termed as difficult due to their confusing nature. While some of these questions might be straightforward, most of them will be tricking and difficult. One needs to apply all his skills and knowledge to solve these questions based on the given scenario.

  4. Analytical Reasoning Questions
  5. These questions will come with a set of statements or rules. You will be supposed to draw logical conclusions based on the statements. You will have to make use of a set of rules and statements and identify the relationship between them to come to a conclusion. These questions are a reflection of the analytical scenarios which the candidates will face later as law students. Just like the candidates are supposed to solve a number of legal scenarios in law schools using analytical reasoning, they are supposed to do the same in these questions. Some of the questions might be straightforward but most of them will be tricky.
